High frequencies can have many advantages. Especially since they support a large data capacity at high speed.

This helps them to be less saturated with data. So, it would be possible to use them to increase the demand for bandwidth. They can also be configured with other wireless signals without causing any interference. It is noticeably different from 4G towers, which shoot data in all directions. This is something that wastes energy.

Also, it should be mentioned that 5G makes use of shorter wavelengths. This helps the antennas to be smaller than the current ones. Something that would help to support more than 1,000 devices per meter than those offered by 4G. In addition, it allows to send data at a higher speed, to a greater number of users.

Another of the big differences between the two is that 5G networks will be able to understand more easily the type of data that is being requested. In this way, it will be able to switch to a lower power mode when not in use. And it will automatically switch back to a higher power mode when doing some activity that requires a higher amount.

 

3. Speed: 5G is 20 times faster

Another of the big differences refers to speed. If we focus on speed, 5G is 20 times faster than 4G. It means that in the time a piece of data is downloaded with 4G (think of a file, like a movie or a video), the same file could have been downloaded 20 times using a 5G network. The difference in both cases is remarkable.

5G offers a maximum download speed of 20 Gb / s, while that of its predecessor is 1 Gb / s. Although these speeds will vary depending on the moment, since they refer to a device that does not move. 

Regarding the decrease in latency, 5G promises to lower it from the 100 milliseconds of 4G networks to between 1 and 2 milliseconds. This will make Internet connections virtually instantaneous. This wireless connection, together with the download speeds, will make accessing content posted in the cloud almost as fast as accessing a document from your own mobile device.

Leaving aside speed and latency, 5G has also solved some technological problems that 4G was dragging on, such as battery consumption, now 10% more durable. 4. What can we do with 5G that we cannot do with 4G?
